March Update

Hey again. It’s been a while since my last blog update, and that’s because I’ve been incredibly busy with an increased college workload as well as the continued development of Yogscart. Recently I was able to take part in the Procedural Death Jam, an amazing Game Jam which allowed me to meet a while new bunch of developers. My entry “Collision Report” is playable now so you should go play it if you can.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone’s had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I hope that like me you’re readying up for a productive year. I am happy to report that I’m working with  various members of the Yogscast Community to create a new karting fan game. Yogscart is being developed by myself and a few other people and is making great progress. I was originally put in charge of creating a multiplayer system for the game, and now I’m working on all sorts of things like item systems, menus and interfaces, and so on. It’s amazing to see how a group effort can really push you to keep creating more content, and I’m grateful to the large amount of people who are already supporting the game. You can find the link to the latest build here: http://en.reddit.com/r/YogsCart/comments/1u3jld/important_yogscart_links/ , and you should also check out the daily development stream on twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/steamfiregamer#

Obviously I’ll continue to work on independent projects as well as this one, so watch this space.

What’s still going on?!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! I’ve been spending the past few weeks working on various small projects, one of which is the image above. Basically I’m trying to create a realistic character model to improve my overall ability to model and texture. So far I’ve modelled a male body, and I’m in the process of texturing him and adding clothes. I hope to complete him in the near future. I’ve also been working on a small tech demo, which I hope to post here soon. So stay tuned for more details.

What’s going on?!

If you’re a regular visitor to the site (and why wouldn’t you be), you may of noticed an overhaul on the games page. That’s because I’ve updated it to make it more streamlined, meaning you can play our games quicker then ever before! I hope you like the new design as we certainly do!

In other news, I’ve just started work on our entry for the second Charity Game Jam. This is an amazing game jam that helps raise money for many amazing charities (where amazing volunteers put in amazing work) and we are proud to be a part of it! Check back here over the course of the week, for live streams and other goodies.

Finally I’ve now uploaded an updated version to Rainbow Venture, our entry for the 6th Bacon Game Jam. This new version includes an improved player movement, health pick ups, Xbox controller support and much more.

Bacon Game Jam 06

Recently I’ve been spending a lot of time improving my ability to model, rig, texture, code and create kick ass games, and it’s all paid off. On the 26th, 27th and 28th of October, Me and Dan created a third person platformer for the Bacon Game Jam. The theme was Rainbows, so we obviously created a darker game about collecting fragments to restore the Rainbow Crystal. Suffice to say, the ideas is a bit rubbish, but me and Dan are extremely happy with how the game turned out, and we hope you enjoy it.

Changes

It’s been just over a year since I started developing game in Unity, and over the past couple weeks I’ve been experimenting with different forms of game play and other ideas that I’ve had, and to celebrate this change I’m effectively relaunching Cube Head Games. So stay tuned for more game information coming soon.
